Easy Cable Scarf
This is the pattern that was design for Part 6 of my “How to Knit” video series. It is easy to do. The Youtube Video shows how to make a Front Cable Stitch and a Back Cable Stitch. As well as when to knit a stitch and when to purl a stitch while making the scarf. I have not had a chance too make the entire scarf do to the time of year. As soon as I have a completed on made, I will add it.
It can be made with either a size 8 or 9 straight needle.
It has a Garter Stitch Border to help it stay flat and not roll up like a classic straight Stockinette Stitch Pattern.
Any worsted weight yarn will work. I prefer to use Plymouth Encore which is 25% Wool and 75% Acrylic. It is machine wash and dry-able.
The width is approximately 7” wide. However by changing the needle size or if you knit tighter or looser, the width will vary. It is not that important for the overall finished project. A scarf can be any width that is comfortable.
Most worsted weight yarns come in a skein of around 200 yards. You don’t necessarily have to use all that yarn. Make the scarf as long as you would like it to be, remembering that you will need enough yarn at the end of the project to knit 6 rows of garter.
