These cable socks are knitted without a cable needle or any extra needles. The grey pair was knitted of 7 brothers (Aran) and the white of Hawthorne (DK) yarn using the same amount of stitches and the same size needles (3.75 mm/ US5).

Both yarns are very nice to knit with, the Hawthorne is a bit softer and makes thinner socks with the same size of needles.

The cable is starts after a short rib and continues all the way to the toes (only on the instep side in the foot) after a rib in the ankle. All the cables are 1/1 cables turning either right or left.

All you need is one ball of yarn (if used one of the above), 5 double pointed needles size 3.5-4 mm (US 4-6) and a tapestry needle for finishing.
