This modern design of the classic striped stocking cap uses chunky yarn and is quick and easy to make. The hat is knit in the round in SS using 2 circular needles.

Construction
The ear flaps are knit flat from the bottom up and are worked in on the foundation row of the hat.

The 14-row stripe pattern is repeated 5 times in alternating colors followed by 5 rows of the main color. A single decrease is made every other row beginning in row 19.

Finishing includes a single crochet trim, braided ties, and a tassel.

Gauge: 8 sts and 12 rows = 3 inches in SS
