Easy Crochet Dishcloth
The Easy Crochet Dishcloth is designed to go with the Beginner’s Crochet Potholder. In the second picture below you can see both of them together. The dishcloth measures about 10.5 inches x 10.5 inches square, which is a wonderful size to tackle kitchen messes. Even if you’re not making potholders to match you can still make a bunch of dishcloths as they only take a few hours to crochet up. Plus they make great trivets for baking / serving dishes on the table and it’s even big enough to set a frying pan on.
The largest part of this dishcloth is done in Single Crochet (sc) with one round on the finishing edge being Double Crochet (dc). If you need a refresher on Single and Double Crochet simply follow the linked words.

2 - 2 ounce (minimum) balls of crochet cotton, worsted, 4 ply. I like picking a variegated (several related colors in one ball) color and a solid color that matches one of the colors in the variegated ball. Cotton is your best choice of material as it resists heat. Many ‘man made’ fibers can scorch or melt.

A size I / 9 - 5.50 mm Crochet Hook. If you go with a smaller crochet hook (like size H / 8 - 5.00 mm) your stitches will be a little tighter and your crochet potholder will be a little smaller. Naturally, a larger hook (like size J / 10 - 6.00 mm) will make looser stitches and a slightly larger crochet dishcloth. I would not go lower than size H or higher than size J.

A small scissors (any scissors will do, you just need it to cut the cotton).
