Easy Cuff-Down Socks
This pattern was written as part of my beginner sock knitting class at 6th Street Fibers in October 2021.
These are very simple, easy socks that make for a good first sock project. They are constructed top-down with a Dutch heel and wedge toe (the same construction is used in the Tiny Training Sock pattern used in the class.)
The Lamb’s Pride yarn is used in these socks to make them easier and quicker to knit for a beginner. This yarn won’t be extremely durable for socks you plan to wear in shoes, so another yarn can be substituted as long as it matches the pattern gauge of 20sts/27rws = 4”. A pair in size S-M will take 1 skein but a M-L pair may take two, depending on cuff length.
Foot circumference for sizing is measured around the ball of the foot.
Materials needed:
-Brown Sheep Lamb’s Pride Worsted (190 yds/173m, 4oz/113g, 85% wool 15% mohair): 1-2 skeins
-US size 8 (5 mm) double-pointed needles
-Two stitch markers (you need to be able to tell these apart since they will mark different things)
-Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
-Ruler or tape measure
