This is a super easy, basic double crochet scarf that is perfect for beginners! Make it using one solid color, ombré yarn, or do the stripe pattern like I did.

The example scarf I made was for my sister who was a Slytherin fan, hence the stripe pattern and color scheme. It uses 1-3 skeins of Lion Brand Heartland yarn in “Rocky Mountains”, and 1 skein of the same brand in “Mountain Rainier.” See the pattern for a color chart.

Change this pattern up by experimenting with different weights of yarn, different hook sizes, etc. Either way, it works up quickly since it only uses one kind of stitch and is worked in short rows to whatever length you want!
