Easy Envelope Borders
Edit 4 Dec 2020
Video tutorial explaining quick-start method is now available from https://youtu.be/9q_I_T8R7yA
The envelope or double border is fast becoming a favourite method for finishing an overlay mosaic crochet blanket, as it is so neat and elegant and doesn’t curl up at the edges like a normal border can.
The preferred method for starting an envelope border is usually a round of slip stitches, but this can be quite fiddly and time consuming, so I formulated a different ‘quick start’ technique, which doesn’t require a round of slip stitches, and is still really easy to do.
This pattern includes instructions for two quick and easy border designs, which can be added to any mosaic crochet blanket, including inset mosaic (the first round may need to be adjusted to allow for the different stitch / row ratios, but this is explained in detail in the pattern).
As always with my patterns, there are full written instructions and lots of helpful photos, and the choice of UK or US terms.
