Looking for a fun and unique flower granny square pattern? Check out this fun square using basic stitches!

This pattern is easy, with the hardest stitch being a double crochet cluster. Don’t be intimidated if you’re new – this is just working double crochet to the last 2 loops before starting the next double crochet.

This is what makes the petals of the flower in the center. The cluster stitches work really well as petals of a flower, and they are easy to do.

This square would be a great choice for a throw blanket or baby blanket, or even as a crochet bag or cowl or other crochet blankets. The options are endless!

Really you can use any yarn you like for a crochet flower granny square. I chose Paintbox Yarns Simply Chunky because I love the way it works up as squares and it comes in such a wide variety of colors.

If you choose to use a different weight of yarn, just be sure to adjust your crochet hook size. I’d go with the size recommended on the ball band and then adjust up or down if needed. Usually for a square I find that the recommended size works pretty well.

You can also make this square in any colors you choose! I had several colors of this yarn in my stash so I just went with what I had. Squares make for great uses of scrap yarn, so try them out with several colors and use up that stash!
