Easy Hoodie
This pattern includes a full video tutorial
The Easy Hoodie is a zip-up cardigan designed for daily comfort. Since it’s a go-to piece for everyday wear, it can be hard to find one that’s both comfortable and well-finished. Because every day is precious, I wanted even my daily wear to have a high-quality touch.
To ensure a clean look, I added a facing to the neckline so that the inside looks neat when the zipper is open. The zipper panel and hood edge are seamlessly connected, and I used short rows to make the front of the hood slightly shorter than the back to prevent it from slipping off easily. Additionally, I knit the zipper panel and inner zipper panel to be connected, so the ends of the zipper don’t look bulky at the seams.
The zipper can be opened from both ends, making it easy to style differently depending on the outfit you match it with.
The Easy Hoodie is a classic-fit hooded cardigan with 9 cm of ease around the chest. It’s a slightly cropped cardigan that reaches the waistline. If you prefer a more relaxed fit, choose one or two sizes larger, and extend the side seam length by 5 cm.
The front and back panels are knitted bottom-up in flat, seamless construction. After reaching the armhole, knit the right front, back, and left front panels in that order. For the sleeves, pick up stitches at the armhole and use short rows to shape the sleeve cap, then continue knitting in the round for the rest of the sleeve.
After using short rows for the sleeve cap, pull the yarn used for picking up stitches tightly to ensure a clean connection at the sleeve join. Avoid using fragile yarns that break easily in this process, as this section requires durability. Be sure to check that the yarn you select is strong enough before you start.
