Easy Knit Beanie
This is a pattern to make a really easy, super comfortable knit beanie for yourself or anyone you know. This make a great gift for a friend, co-worker, or family member as you can switch up the color to suit anyone and it only takes a few hours to make. It’s also great for using up some scrap yarn, since it only needs about 150 yards. It is knit flat, then sewn up to join it. I did it this way instead of in the round so it can be a pattern for even beginners.
Difficulty: Beginner-Easy
Size: to fit an adult, 18” circumference un-stretched and 22” when stretched
Needles: 1 pair of US 6 / 4mm needles, 1 pair of US 8 / 5mm needles
Yarn: Fingering, Sock Weight, or Light Medium (DK) Weight (I used fingering weight, using DK will make a thicker hat that is slightly looser fitting)
Gauge: 1” = 6 sts, 7 rows
Key: K= knit stitch, P= purl stitch, K2tog= knit two together (standard decrease)
NOTE FOR THOSE WORKING IN THE ROUND:
If you decide to knit with circular needles in the round, just knit the purl rows since you won’t be flipping the project over each row. I wrote this pattern for beginners who haven’t tackled circular knitting yet, since I know when I was a beginner it was hard to find hat patterns written flat before I was ready to tackle circular knitting.
