EASY Personalised Summer Rainbow Baby Blanket
This crochet pattern uses the inset mosaic crochet technique for the main section of the blanket and then bobbles to create the personalisation for the name and date.
Stitches used (in US terms) are just sc, dc, ch’s and bobbles. If you can do these then you can make this blanket! The pattern gives in depth instructions on how to personalise for any name including bobble design charts for all letters of the alphabet and numbers 1-10.
The inset mosaic technique is worked back and forth, turning your work at the end of each row and working 2 rows of one colour at a time. This means you don’t have to cut your yarn after each row like the overlay inset mosaic technique and therefore there are hardly any ends to sew in! It is a very easy technique so even if you haven’t done it before, you will be able to master it with the clear and precise yet detailed instructions in this pattern.
The blanket can be made with most yarn weights and would make a stunning new baby gift, christening or birthday present that can be treasured forever. The finished size in DK yarn and a 5mm hook is approx 63cm wide x 85 cm high and uses approx 420g of DK yarn, but it can very simply be customised to be made bigger or smaller. It could also therefore be made for older children or adults alike. The stitch multiple to make any size is provided in the pattern.
The mosaic design is a contempory and luxurious looking pattern that would look gorgeous in many different colour combinations. The ribbed border outlines the blanket perfectly which gives rigidity and makes the blanket lovely and square, in turn creating a gorgeous professional looking finish.
This is a thoroughly enjoyable blanket to make and it should be suitable for most skill levels. I am also available for support with this pattern should you need it.
