Learn to knit these garter stitch pumpkins. This is more of a recipe for how many stitches to cast on and rows to work, but the pdf includes a photo tutorial and there is also a step-by-step video tutorial.

YARN
You can use any yarn you want. Pick a yarn and find a set of needles that will go well with that yarn.

Note: You want the knit stitches to work up neatly, not loosely. If they are loose you’ll be able to see the stuffing through the knitting. It doesn’t have to be tightly knit, just neatly enough that it doesn’t have big gaps between the stitches.

Sample uses:Bernat Softee Chunky (100% acrylic yarn - 108 yds {99 m}/ 3.5 oz {100 g}) in the colorway ‘Pumpkin’ with the stem in colorway ‘Taupe Grey’.*

NEEDLES
You can use any needle size, just make sure it works well with the yarn you’ve chosen.
Knitting Flat: Use straight needles or circulars.
Knitting in the Round: Use 16″ {40 cm} circular needles or longer for magic loop knitting (at least 32″ {80 cm}).

Sample uses: US 13 {9.0 mm} 16″ {40 cm}circular needles.

OTHER MATERIALS
Yarn Needle, Stuffing, Stitch Marker (if working in the round).

GAUGE
You don’t have to follow a gauge to make this pumpkin. If you do follow a gauge it will stretch out a bit when you stuff your pumpkin.

Sample has approx: 10 sts / 14 rounds = 4″ {10 cm}. In stockinette worked in the round.

SIZING
Varies greatly depending on the yarn, and needles you use and how much stuffing you put in the pumpkin.

Sample creates: 23.5″ {59.5 cm} around at its widest by 9.5″ {24 cm} from bottom to top. It sits about 4.5″ {11.5 cm} tall.
