This is a ‘different’ pattern in that it looks like a lot of work, but isn’t..and my testers agree :)

This pattern is worked sideways, like a rectangle and then joined to make it a cowl. The embellishments add the texturing and lovely finish. While it was originally made in light fingering (by the designer), it has been tested with various yarns.

This pattern has been tested using :
a) 3-ply light fingering yarn ; 30 gms / 172 yds ; 4 mm crochet hook ;

b) Jojoland superswash fingerling 3-ply ; around 30 yds, 4mm (G) hook
Comments : Good photos & instructions, took 6-8 hrs

c) Nordlys, 65g, 4 mm crochet hook ; Gauge : 20 e-dc/4 inch;
Comments : Instructions & photos clear, all explained well, took about 4-5 hrs ;

d) Fyberspates Twizzle , Fingering/4-ply,72g (288 yards),
4mm crochet hook;
Comments : Instructions & photos good, took about 8 hrs ; Excellent pattern, part 1 works up really quickly and it’s worth spending a little extra time on making part 2 neatly to get the best results after blocking

e) wool/cotton/acrylic blend, 135 yd per 50 gm (probably sport weight? not given on label & not online) , 314 yards of yarn ; 4 mm crochet hook ;
Gauge: 37 sc across is 9 in. and 5 rows of edc are 4.25”; Comments : Instructions are good, and photos are very helpful. Your instructions for edc are excellent - I’ve tried this stitch before and never really “got it”. Now I do! It really only took me 2 days to complete stitching - it was another 2 days before I had time to block. This is a fun pattern to work. It’s very unique and yields a great, very wearable accessory!
Skill level by tester: I would categorize as confident beginner or intermediate level,

f) Sinfonia, 296m / 324yd ; 8/H/5mm crochet hook ;
Comments :I clearly understood the main body instructions. The texturing instructions left me lost until I charted them out ;

g) Jo-ann Sensations Cuddle (discontinued), 2 oz which is 231 yards, G 4.00mm crochet hook ;
Comments : Instructions seemed long, but I’m not sure that anything could be dropped. The photo tutorial was mainly what I used ; took roughly 8 hours.
