A kufi is a brimless, short, well-rounded cap. They are unisex and worn for many different reasons all throughout the world.

These kufis are crocheted top-down, with a light worsted yarn, Nifty Cotton through a #7 4.5mm crochet hook. Nifty Cotton is thick enough to keep warm in winter and light enough to keep your head cool in the summer. For your first kufi, pick two contrasting colors. If you’re on the spiritual side, use a light color for your starter color, keep your crown light.

Gauge is not the important as these are essentially skull caps and tend to shrink a bit after you wash them.

Traditional kufis are made with thread and very tiny hooks, but if you are in a rush or want something quick and easy that you can do in one afternoon then this is the project for you.

Ultimately you will use about half of each skein of yarn and you want to make sure you use two very different contrasting colors so you can really make shape of the triangles.

Happy crocheting.
