Easy V Stitch Headband
I dont need no stinking pattern! LOL, JK
This is a great alternative to warm your ears and head than a beanie, especially if you have curly hair. It stays put. The back is tapered and these stitches are basic. It takes 1 hour to make.
sl - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
hdc - half double crochet
dc - double crochet
st - stitch
First make chains until the go around your head where you want the beginning headband to go. My head is 22” from around base of neck and around forehead.
Foundation: Ch 52 and sl st together to make a circle, Ch 2, turn
Row 1: 54 sc all the way around,sl st, and turn.. (I turned the chains around to the backside of chains so I can stick the hook into that middle thread that protrudes out. I leave the other 2 threads alone so when I sc, the edge is cleaner. If you don’t get how to do this, skip it.)
Row 2-7: 3 Sl St, 4 sc, 4 hdc, 1 dc, 10 V-stitches, 1 dc, 4 hdc, 4 sc, 3 sl st. Repeat 4 more times work in a continuous rounds. Sl st at the end of doing 6 slip stitches in back, turn.
Row 8: Ch 2, 51 sc, sl st. Finish off and hide end with a yarn needle.
See I told you it was easy!
To figure out how to make it your size:
30-40 ch are the dc area. Use stitch markers to know where to stop and start the main dc area.
whatever is left, divide into 3 sections. (sl st, sc, and hdc st)
Variations:
White Headband - V stitch cluster stitch in dc area
Green Headband - shell stitch in dc area
Grey Headband - v stitch in dc area
Tip: The last sc that you do at the end, do 2 sc between each V and one sc between the v stitch. It is better to have 1-2 less or the same stitches than more than the beginning ch length because of the way the head is shaped.
Here is a youtube to show how to do the v-stitch cluster
