This is a simple woodlouse (also known as a pillbug, isopod, roly-poly, hog-louse, and many more) stuffed toy. I designed this for my husband based on the techniques I came up with in two other projects I’ve shared before — vertical ribbing and simple ridges created through a combination of knits and purls. It is knitted in two pieces (shell and belly) with straight needles, plus legs and antennae. Add googly eyes or buttons for a fun finishing touch, or omit them completely for more realism.

For convenience, the pattern has the number of stitches left in the needle at the end of each row. And if you need instructions for any of the required skills, i’ve included links you can peruse before tackling the project.

The final size of the bug will be around 15 cms (6 inches).
