Ebb Tide Skirt
New for Wonderwool 2022, this knitted skirt has a ridge and furrow pattern reminiscent of the ripples seen on the sand at low tide at Dunraven Bay, our favourite local beach, known to Dr Who fans as Bad Wolf Bay.
The combination of garter stitch ridges and stocking stitch furrows gives a textured pattern which is also stretchy enough to allow a bit of rock pool hopping before the tide comes in again.
The skirt is knitted on the bias so it is very stretchy and will hug your curves. Its slight A-line shape is flattering for a variety of body shapes.
The pattern is written for adult sizes XS to XXXL with three length options.
Suitable for intermediate knitters or ambitious novices who can knit and purl, increase and decrease. This is a good first
short row project as any mistakes will be disguised by the shifting ripples.
Two colours are used – one plain shade for the garter stitch ridges and one variegated in contrasting colours. We used WYS Signature for the plain and Woolly Wumpkins hand dyed for the variegated.
Yarn requirements vary by skirt size and length chosen—please see table in photos for details.
You will also need:
3.0mm circular needle approx. 80cm long to accommodate the stitches and 5 stitch markers, preferably in 5 different colours. Optional: elastic to thread through waist band.
