A version of Wingspan using the old shale stitch with optional picot edge.

It is possible to figure this out yourself from the original Wingspan pattern but for those of you who prefer someone else to do the Math here it is written out for you.

Where the Original Wingspan looked good in long colour change yarns this also looks great in variegated yarns, more than one yarn or a whole load of leftover bits of yarn.

The pattern is for a 97 stitch cast on but the size can change dramatically depending on the yarn and needles you use.

Typically one skein of sock yarn will make a cute shoulder shawl and Aran or thicker produces a substantial wrap.

The Bluey-Green shawl shown is made in 5 different Colinette yarns (Mohair, Fandango, Tagliatelli, Athene and Giotto) on 5.5mm needles, and is large enough to keep you cosy anywhere.

This would be a good project for any leftover yarns you have - try it in all sock yarns or mix it up with different weights and textures for a boho look.

Many thanks to Lynne190 for test knitting.
