Designed for my 2024 Advent Calendar inspired by Winter Solstice.

Echoes of Light is my ode to Winter, its subtle lights which are cool in the cold mornings, and transform in gentle warm hues in the afternoon, as soon as the sun starts to set.

I’m obsessed with colors, mini skeins, gradients, and I love geometric shapes too. Modular knitting is perfect to bring that all together. Simple stitches form small geometric shapes in different colors, that together form larger pieces, where each and every color has its own place to shine.

I try to design a new pattern for my Advent Calendars every year.
That was the idea for my 2024 Advent pattern. I’ve sketched different shapes, but then I came back to my dear triangles. They’re fun and quick to knit, but not boring as short rows keep you engaged row by row, and ease the color transition.

This is a rectangular scarf/wrap designed to work with a 24 mini skeins Advent calendar, either in Fingering/DK yarn, and either with 10/20 gr mini skeins.
The scarf and wrap are knitted flat in garter stitch, and shaped with short rows to form triangles.
One mini skein is used to knit one triangle, and the scarf will be knitted along seamlessly.
A knitted on icord border paired with icord cast on and bind off will make for the perfect finishing.

While designed for 24 mini skeins, this is perfect to use up scraps of yarn, and it can be easily adjusted in length by knitting fewer or more repeats, and in width by adding or subtracting any multiple of 2 sts. Just keep in mind that if you’re adding stitches, you’ll need extra yarn, as pattern numbers are worked to use up as much of the mini skeins as possible.
