OTHER MATERIALS

  • A thread in a contrasting color for the Provisional Cast on.
  • Elastic thread for neck edge, edge at the bottom of the bodice and possible sleeve edges. Not a necessity, but it will give a nicer result.

SIZE (2XL): This size have not been test knitted, which means that the amount of yarn given is an estimate. If you choose to knit 2XL, I will be happy if you send me feedback on the exact amount of yarn :) post@secondknit.com

The T-shirt is an essential basic garment for the spring and summer wardrobe. The design is loose-fitting, comfortable, and with simple details.

The garment is worked from top to bottom in stockinette stitches, and the work starts with a Provisional Cast On in the neck, which allows both shoulder stitches and neck stitches to rest while the back piece is worked back and forth. The shoulders are worked separately and gathered in the middle of the front to form a front piece. The body is worked in the round, with a folded edge at the bottom. This edge is also worked for the sleeves and neck. Stitches are picked up for the sleeves which are worked in the round, and which end with a folded edge as to the bodice and neck.

The sizes are calculated based on a positive ease of approximately 25 cm, which you add to your own chest measurement (or the widest measurement on the torso). The pattern follows body measurements of:
80-85 (85-90) 90-95 (95-100) 100-110 (110-120) cm.
Example: If you have a chest measurement of 93 cm and add 25 cm = 118 cm which corresponds to size M. Here the positive ease will be 22 cm.

The model in the picture has a chest measurement of 83 cm (22 cm positive ease on the t-shirt compared to body measurement), and is wearing size XS with a length of 47 cm (4 cm shorter than the measurement in pattern).
