Knit entrelac creates a beautiful fabric that looks woven. Most entrelac patterns use triangles at the edges to fill in between entrelac rectangles. To work these patterns, you need to learn four or more different types of triangles, and two types of rectangles for the right side and wrong side of your work. “Edgy” takes full advantage of the intrinsic shape of the rectangles to create a zig zag edge, with no need to learn any triangles. The rectangles are all worked in k1, p1 ribbing for a fully reversible scarf. Because there is no right side or wrong side, all of the rectangles slant in the same direction, so most of them are identical, and the few rectangles with slight variations are easy to learn.
