Edith Washcloth
This is a Crochet Pattern showing you how to make a sweet, traditional looking, Granny Square Washcloth.
The granny square style pattern is not difficult to make, and I have included plenty of detailed photos showing the stitches and where to put them.
USA Version
The pattern uses chain, single crochet, doubles and slip stitch stitches, and is simple to construct. You only fasten off once, at the end !
UK Version
The pattern uses chain, double crochet, treble and slip stitch stitches, and is simple to construct. You only fasten off once, at the end !
It uses simple and clearly written instructions, which are fuller than normal. This is to try and help the novice get used to following commercial printed patterns, which can be hard for a beginner. There are many clear photographs to help you see what to do.
The pattern uses DK double knitting (USA = light worsted or sport) cotton yarn, or a cotton/bamboo mix, and a 4mm (USA = size 6 or G) hook. However, there are details in the pattern about using different yarn and hooks if you don’t have what’s required.
The gauge doesn’t matter too much for this pattern, as the washcloth can be any size. However, it is good if you can keep your tension constant.
The amount of yarn required is only rough. 1 x 50g ball is more than enough, and 100g will probably make 3 washcloths or dishcloths.
I am happy to help anyone using the pattern, as we all have to start somewhere.
