Edvins beanie was designed together with my son, who wanted a soft beanie for fall and winter with a cable pattern. It has a beautifully textured cable-knit pattern, blending the softness of merino wool with the delicate halo of mohair. The design features classic cable stitches that add depth and elegance, making it a stylish yet cozy accessory for colder months. The merino and mohair combination ensures the beanie is warm, lightweight, and luxuriously soft. Perfect for gifting or adding to your handmade collection! The pattern comes in three sizes, one size for children and two for adults.

The beanie is knitted starting from the double folded brim with a Longtail Tubular CO method creating a beautiful edge. Then you follow an easy cable chart and finally make decreases for the top of the hat.

Size: junior (adult S) adult M

Measurements: Circumference of finished beanie once blocked 46.5 (52.5) 58 cm / 18.5 (20) 23”.

Size guide: Recommended negative ease is about 5 cm / 2” measured from your own head circumference.

Gauge: 24 sts x 30 rnds = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” in a cable pattern using 3.5 mm (US 4) needles holding together one strand of merino and one strand of mohair, after blocking.

Needles: 3 mm (US 2.5) and 3.5 mm (US 4) 40 cm / 16” circular needles, 3.5 mm (US 4) DPNs for the decreases.

Yarn: 50 (50) 70g merino by Knitting for Olive (100 % merino wool - 250 m / 273 yds - 50 g) color Marzipan, held together with 25 (25) 40g soft silk mohair by Knitting for Olive (70 % mohair - 30 % silk - 225 m / 256 yds - 25 g) color Cloud.

The pattern instructions are written for using fingering and lace weight yarn held together, but you can substitute for a single strand of DK weight yarn. In that case follow the amount of yarn for fingering weight yarn only.

Notions: Stitch marker, cable needle, tapestry needle.
