These classy, sophisticated, and cozy mittens are knit using two colors of worsted weight plus one strand of mohair to be carried with one of the two worsted yarns. I used Emma’s Washable Worsted and Marvelous Mohair, and they’re soft and thick and incredibly warm. They’re upstate - New York - in - the - winter sort of warm.
Sizes: 6.25 (6.75, 7.5, 8.25, 8.75)” / 15.5 (17, 19, 20.5, 22)cm finished hand circumference. (fits kids through large adults).
To be worn with 1”/ 2.5cm of positive ease.
Needles: US 7 / 4.5mm or size to obtain gauge, in DPNs (and, optionally, 9” / 23cm circular), and US 5 / 3.75mm or 0.75mm smaller than gauge needle, in preferred needles for small circumference.
Gauge: 24 sts and 24 rnds = 4”/ 10cm over check pattern.
Yarn: worsted weight in two colors and Mohair in one color:
worsted:
MC: 110 (120, 130, 145, 160) yards / 101 (110, 120, 133, 147) meters;
CC: 100 (110, 120, 135, 150) yards / 92 (101, 110, 124, 138) meters; and
Mohair: 100 (110, 120, 135, 150) yards / 92 (101, 110, 124, 138) meters.
Notions: tapestry needle, two stitch markers.
Sample knit in: Emma’s Yarn Washable Worsted (100% superwash Merino; 218 yards / 100g) in After Dark (MC) and Weathervane (CC), and Emma’s Yarn Marvelous Mohair (72% Kid Mohair, 28% Silk; 459 yards / 50g) in Weathervane.
