Edwina the Elephant
In the summer of 1926, the Sells Floto Circus arrived in my town of Cranbook, BC. As the 14 elephants exited the train, they were spooked by smoke in the air and stampeded through the town. Within hours, most of the animals were captured, but Charlie Ed remained at large for several weeks, living in a forested area near town. When he was recaptured, he was renamed Cranbrook Ed.
Edwina (or Ed, if you like) was created in memory of the legend that was Cranbrook Ed.
