Inspiration: Egalantine is also known by its common name – Briar Rose. Its lovely pink flowers have a soft apple scent, and it is a plant highly prized for the rosehips it bears in the fall. Tea from the rosehips was popular in medieval times and a good source of vitamin C and A.

Technical Details: The shawl is knit from neck down to the bottom hem. It is shaped by yarn-over increases along the front edges and along two vertical bands of a climbing rose pattern, which run across the shoulders and down the arms to the hem. The body of the shawl is worked with an eyelet floral motif. It is finished with an open lattice eyelet pattern.

You will need approximately 775 yards of a fingering weight yarn to knit this pattern as written. If choosing to substitute yarns, select one with a good drape and limited halo. Note that the lace patterns are presented in chart form ONLY.

This shawl is the third in a 6-part pattern series featuring lace patterns for the Wooly Wonka Fibers Herbarium Club - Lace 2017. An ebook collection of all 6 of the patterns (with patterns released every other month during the course of 2017) is also available for download.
