Egg Hunt Socks
Yarn: Yardage will vary based on foot size, and taller socks will require more yardage. My main sample was knit using the Easter Basket sock set by Mandi’s Makings.
Sizes small and medium should be able to knit the contrast heel and cuff using one 20g mini skein. If you’re concerned about yardage, the heel could be knit using the main color, or a second contrast color could be added.
Size large will need to use a second contrast color or use the main color for the heel.
Main Color: 463 yards/100g skein, 75% superwash merino, 25% nylon
Contrast Color 1: 92 yards/20g skein, 75% superwash merino, 25% nylon
Contrast Color 2 (Optional for size S, M): 92 yards/20g skein, 75% superwash merino, 25%
nylon
Sizes: S (M, L) based on foot circumferences of 8-9” (9-10”, 10-11”) or 20.32-22.86 (22.86-25.4, 25.4-27.94) cm.
Please note these are based on foot circumference, not shoe size. Choose a size with 1-2” or 2.5-5 cm of negative ease to get your best fit. You will knit to the length needed for your foot length.
Needles: US 1/2.25 mm 9” circulars, plus US 1/2.25 mm needles with a long cord to close the
toe, or the sizes needed to meet gauge.
Notions: 2 stitch markers (BOR marker should be distinct), waste yarn or stitch holders, darning needles, scissors, sock ruler (optional).
Gauge: 32 stitches, 56 rows over 4”/10 cm in stockinette
