Egghead Mannequin
This is my NEWEST Pattern; if you see any errors or potential errors, send me a convo so I can look into fixing it. :) I’m human, at times some grammatical errors/typos can occur.
Why buy a cheapo styrofoam kind when you can create a HANDMADE one that will last decades upon decades.
Finished size is approximately 20 inch circumference.
This is a display size; can display adult hats, scarves, or larger child hats/scarfs.
Variations in size can occur depending on your gauge and stuffing process.
Materials needed:
Size F or G Aluminum crochet hook & about 410 yards of #21 Twisted Nylon Seine Twine (or substitute #24 Nylon Crochet Cord: This will give you a larger result. Or Substitute #18 Nylon Crochet Cord/Thread: this will give you a smaller result.
You can use medium weight sturdy acrylic yarn (the cheap scratchy kind, like Super Saver) but expect a larger result; about 22 inch head.
The #21 ‘Twisted’ Nylon Seine Twine is recommended for best and sturdy results, however find a comparable acrylic sturdy yarn if you choose.
TIP: You can use #24 TWISTED Nylon Seine Twine or #24 Nylon twisted Mason line found at many hardware stores, ebay, amazon, or other twine/cord shops online (such as net shops) Just make sure it’s not tarred.
#21 TWISTED Nylon Seine Twine can be found online: For example, Ebay has it, just type in ‘#21 Twisted Nylon Seine Twine’.
** OR JUST USE SUPER SAVER WORSTED WEIGHT YARN: It won’t be as ‘heavy’ as the nylon twine/cord but it will work. **
About 45 ounces heavyweight fiberfill to stuff the head (I use one that is made to stuff firmly for dolls/bears- a crafting fiberfill, because this has more weight to it than the lighter weight, fluffier version- Morning Glory Premium Polyester Fiberfill works well), Large yarn needle, a medium wooden dowel to assist with stuffing process. IT IS IMPORTANT TO REALLY STUFF THE MANNEQUIN WITH LOTS OF THE Course FIBERFILL TO REACH THE APPROXIMATE FINISHED SIZE.
Thank you!
