The instructions are specific to making a baby blanket using worsted weight yarn, however there are notes about how to alter the pattern to customize the size. As such, you can use any yarn you wish!

Your finished blanket will end up being approximately 15 times bigger than a 3-round granny square as written in the pattern. Adjusting the size comes down to yarn choice and changing the number of rounds in this base square! Exact info on how to do this is in the pattern.
