Egyptian Goddess Baset with cats
Graph and written instructions will be available for download. Made using the overlay mosaic crochet technique.
Bastet was the daughter of the sun god Ra, and she was believed to have the power to bring about joy, fertility, and protection against evil spirits.
Bastet, also known as Bast, was an ancient Egyptian goddess associated with home, fertility, and protection. She was often depicted as a lioness or as a woman with the head of a lioness or domestic cat. Bastet was considered a nurturing and protective deity, and she was particularly revered for her role in safeguarding the pharaoh and the home.
Over time, Bastet’s role evolved, and she became associated with domestic cats. Cats were highly revered in ancient Egypt and were believed to possess protective qualities. As a result, Bastet became closely associated with cats and was often depicted with them or as a cat herself.
Example was made with size 4 worsted weight yarn and a 5 mm hook.
Dimensions are 37 inches x 50 inches.
