This pattern is inspired by the cloisters at Lacock Abbey which have beautiful Medieval arcs and twists. So, it seems fitting to name them after the abbey’s thirteenth-century founder, Ela of Salisbury.

The socks are knitted from the toe-up with a gusset and heel flap. The cable is knitted on the top of the foot, with stockinette for the sole of the foot and back of the leg.

Sizing
To fit: 21 (24, 28) cm / 8 1/4 (9 1/2 , 11) inches circumference at ball of foot.
Finished circumference of socks: 19 (22, 25) cm / 71/2 (8 3/4 , 9 3/4 ) inches
These socks are designed with 2 cm / 3/4 inch of negative ease for a snug fit.

Yarn
260-350 metres / 285-382 yards of Cascade Heritage Solids or similar 4ply yarn. For the socks shown in the pictures, knitted in size 2, I used 260 metres / 284 yards of Cascade Heritage Solids in the colourway Como Blue (5655).
