> Electric Trilobite Cowl/Collar.

Electric Trilobite Cowl/Collar.
Electric Trilobite is a fitted cowl/collar-style neckwarmer, knit in squishy, flexible garter stitch.
It’s got buttons.
It’s shaped a little like a very flat trilobite.
It is also pretty functional in that it provides a little bit of warmth to one of the vital points of the body—keeping your neck warm seems to go a long way to keeping the rest of the body feeling well-regulated and not chilled. Plus: trilobite.
The sample is shown in Lion Brand Ferris Wheel, in the Pink Marmalade colorway; a wool or wool-blend will keep you warmer and generally outperform acrylic, though.
To knit this quick neckwarmer, you’ll need the following:
Materials:
- About 140-150 yards of Lion Brand Ferris, Malabrigo Yarn Rios, or another soft worsted-weight yarn
- Smooth scrap yarn in a similar weight, for a provisional cast-on
- 1 24-32” circular needle, US7-8/4.5-5.0mm, or size needed for gauge
- 6-14 stitch markers, depending on how much you like stitch markers
- 2 buttons (1”-1.12”/2.54-2.8cm)
- Crochet Hook
- Tapestry needle
Gauge:
Gauge is 8 sts and 16 rows over 2”/5cm of lightly blocked garter stitch. It’s a medium gauge, lofty and compressible, but not too loose.
Knitting this cowl in a bulkier yarn at a larger gauge will give you different results but probably be all right; knitting it any smaller will probably be disastrous and result in a cowl that’s much too small. Please be sure to check your gauge.
This project requires knitting both flat and in the round, and a provisional cast-on.
