Thank you!
Meet my new favorite necklace.
What makes it my favorite, you might ask?
For starters, it is sooooooo comfortable. In a jewelry box filled with decidedly uncomfortable necklaces, this one stands out as being one I am able to forget I’m wearing.
The prominent design elements include clusters of beautiful 14-karat gold plated beads. The lacy crochet stitch pattern sort of reminds me of swirls of frosting on a birthday cake. To my way of thinking, birthday cake + gold = big winner!
But even better, I chose these beads and this yarn because I wanted to make a project that would have lasting value -- a project that would be worth taking the time to handcraft.
The pattern for crocheting this necklace includes international symbol crochet charts, written-out text, and a schematic.
The pattern has been tested and professionally tech edited.
This is a one-skein project that will leave lots and lots of yarn left over. You could make bunches of these necklaces and give some as gifts to friends!
The name of the suggested yarn for this pattern is Bio Sesia. It’s a fingering weight organic cotton yarn distributed by the Plymouth Yarn Company.
In addition to the yarn and crochet hook, you’ll also need beads and a toggle for making this necklace. For this project, I used 14-gold-karat plated 3 mm round beads plus a toggle, both of which are from the “Gold Elegance” collection by the Cousin Corporation.
I’ve crocheted this pattern numerous times and have successfully made substitutions for the beads in most of the others I’ve tried. Glass beads in about the same size range also work well for this pattern.
If you want to crochet your own necklace just like this one, there are two possibilities:
- You can now purchase this as a separate, standalone pattern available in my brand new Ravelry shop! YAY!
- Or, you can get your hands on a copy of Delicate Crochet by Sharon Hernes Silverman. Stackpole Books is the publisher of this title.
You’ll find this necklace pattern included in the book, along with 22 other delightfully drapey, lacy, flirty, wearable projects.
The crochet projects included in Delicate Crochet are sweaters, tops, shawls, wraps, scarves, a necklace and even a lacy, feminine crocheted skirt. The other contributors to the book are some of the rock stars of crochet: Sharon Hernes Silverman, Kristin Omdahl, Robyn Chachula, Marty Miller, Vashti Braha and others. I think you’re going to be excited about this book when you see the amazing projects it includes. The book also includes helpful step-by-step photo tutorials which could help you better understand how to crochet these projects.
If you’d like to read more of my thoughts about the crochet projects included in this book, you’re invited to check out my preview of Delicate Crochet which is posted at KnittingCrochetCrafts.com. Thanks so much for your interest in my pattern!
