You don’t have to be an experienced colourwork knitter to use and enjoy Shetland yarns. In this slouchy beanie, stripes are built from paired shades to create that distinct Fair Isle glow. For a perfect finish, use your favourite jogless join - I’ve included mine in the techniques section.

To get a similar effect with different colours, choose two hues that are opposite each other on the colour wheel, then choose 2 close shades of each. For your main colour, choose a neutral with same temperature as your contrast colours.
