Red for blanket, grey for body, pink for ears and tips of arms
I used Bernat Velvet which is a weight 5, but Bernat Baby Velvet can also work but you may need to adjust your hook sizes down a size 3.5mm and 5mm
4mm crochet hook
5.5mm crochet hook (for blanket)
1.8mm crochet hook or other small lace hook
2 packs embroidery floss for roses
Small piece of black to embroider eyeliner (optional)
Stitch marker (optional)
Polyfil
8mm safety eyes (bigger/smaller is ok)- optional
Tapestry needle
Abbreviations:
MR: Magic Ring
Sc: Single crochet
Dc: Double Crochet
TR: Treble crochet
Inc: Increase- place two stitches into the same stitch
Dec: Invisible decrease- sc two stitches together
FO: Fasten off
Ss: Slip stitch
Ch: Chain
Ch 1 sp: Corner space
Sp: Space between clusters
Notes:
The head and arms are worked in a continuous round unless otherwise stated.
The blanket is done similarly to a traditional granny square, but the corners have a chain 1 and no chains between the clusters on the sides. You can opt to do your preferred granny square method.
Whenever it says to work in the next space while making your square, it is referring to the next space between clusters in the blanket below.
Some people are wary when using safety eyes, so as an alternative you can always sew on sleepy eyes or make them out of yarn. I personally glue/burn the back of the safety eyes to improve their durability. In the assembly section there is a video on how to embroider sleepy eyes.
