In addition to a comforting familiar friend, HugKnits Elephant can double as a puppet–the head and trunk are hollow–a great distraction tool for a fussy or bored baby.

These directions are for the HugKnit Elephant. The blanket portion is knit flat in garter stitch for great tactile stimulation, head is knit in the round. Uses worsted weight yarn (make sure its washable); Heather Gray -300 yds, dark grey or black -1 yd, contrasting waste yarn -2 yds. Also uses Kitchener Stitch and Duplicate Stitch. Easy peasie stuff for intermediate knitter. If you run into trouble, pattern support is always just an email away.
