Elephant mosaic square
This is a pattern for a mosaic overlay crochet square with an elephant on it. It’s crocheted in the round, so it starts in the middle.
You can use this as a coaster or make more squares and connect them to make, for example, a blanket.
As a coaster, this is 9 by 9 cm after blocking, made with cotton fingering yarn and a 2 mm hook.
- > This square starts with less stitches than my other small squares with animals, but it can be adjusted to match the size of the other squares: It will be about 9.3 by 9.3 cm by adding another round of single crochet stitches.
The coaster I made is 12 grams total, you need more of the background color than of the second color. Note that I used ankered double crochet stitches, which takes more yarn.
The pattern includes a written pattern, a chart and a short explanation of how to close rounds and how to make the corners.
It does not include tutorials for the stitches nor for the overlay mosaic crochet technique.
This pattern may be a bit difficult for beginners, although mosaic crochet itself is easy to understand.
