Elephants never forget and with these beautiful socks, everyone will remember you!

This sock is knit from the cuff down to the toe. The heel has a flap and gusset style construction, which fits great and is wonderful for beginner sock knitters.

The Elephant Socks have a colorwork section with two rows of hearts and a parade of elephants on the ankle, and two more rows of hearts before the toe decreases. The toe is rounded, and the final stitches are grafted together using Kitchener stitch.

Sizes:
Small, Medium (Large, Extra Large)
Finished size: 6 ½, 7 ½ (8 ½, 9 ½)”, 16.5, 19 (21.5, 24) cm unstretched circumference.
Recommended to fit with 1”/2.5cm of negative ease (choose the size 1”/2.5cm smaller than the widest part of your foot).
Length of foot can be adjusted while knitting, so just measure the circumference of the bridge of your foot and your lower ankle just below the ankle bone to choose your size. If these numbers differ, use the larger measurement.

Suggested Yarn:
MC (main color): 48 g/ 222 yards/ 202 meters of Stroll Fingering weight yarn in “Sapphire Heather”
CC1 (contrast color 1): 28 g/ 130 yards/ 119 meters Stroll Fingering weight yarn in “Electric Blue”
CC2 (contrast color 2): 6 g/ 28 yards/ 26 meters Stroll Fingering weight yarn in “Pucker”

75% Fine Superwash Merino Wool, 25% Nylon
4.62 yds/gram
Yardage listed is for amount needed for two size Large socks. Yardage will vary for different sock sizes.

Gauge:
34 stitches/40 rounds = 4”/10cm square as worked in stockinette in the round on larger size needles after blocking.

Suggested Needles:
US 1.5/2.5mm double pointed needles, set of 5 (or circular needles for magic loop method).
US 1/ 2.25mm double pointed needles, set of 5 (or circular) for ribbing and heel flap.
My favorite needles are ChiaoGoo bamboo double pointed needles. I have the sock size set. These can be found online or at your local yarn shop.
