The pattern for the fingerless elephant mitts was written for a fundraising effort for my cousin, who suffered major injuries after a serious car crash and would not be able to work for some time.
They are worked in the round, using the intarsia colorwork technique. My sample of the mitts have the charts switched from that which is written in the final pattern, because I like the thought of the elephants facing each other upon completion of the project.
The pattern is only written for one size, but going up or down on yarn weight/needle size will result in slightly smaller or larger mitts.
There are now several charts to choose from. You can make the Elephant, like the samples, or choose one of the other charts listed at the bottom of the pattern.
