Named for the number of stitches in a pattern repeat, this hat pattern is worked from the top down and is written for both bulky and worsted weight yarns in two sizes. The small size will fit a typical woman’s head (about 19-21 inches) and the large size will fit a typical man’s head (21-24 inches). If you want a slouchier hat, knit the larger size and/or go up a needle size and insert 2-3 inches of stockinet before section 2. This pattern is written with negative ease but the ribbing is very stretchy to accommodate a variety of head sizes. The ribbed section is written and charted.
