Elevenses celebrates Yarn Folk’s eleventh shop anniversary with a cabled hat pattern. Each cable has eleven cable crosses, and they occur at increasing (or decreasing) intervals. Decreases happen at a rapid rate at the very end of the knitting--most of the rounds are knitted on a 16” circular needle, with DPNs or magic loop required only for the last three rounds.

This hat was designed for a custom colorway, Ellensburg Blue, created for the occasion by Kim Dyes Yarn on Stroopwafel DK, a stunning wool/silk blend.

Ellensburg, Washington, home to Yarn Folk, is situated near the western edge of the Columbia River Basalts, with older sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rocks to the west and north. Local Teanaway Basalt is the source of the “Ellensburg Blue” agate--warm groundwater rich in silica flowed through the basalt and formed the agate. Rocks here are from the Eocene epoch and record a time before the Cascade Range existed.

Instructions are provided in both chart and written form. Yardage requirements include a 10% buffer.
