Elexe
This shawl was designed for my beautiful niece Jaimee’s wedding. She was raised in Yellowknife, NT; married another Yellowknifer, and loves cats. The traditional lace patterns were chosen specifically for their names: Frost Flowers, and Cat’s Paw. Elexe (pronounced EleTso) is the word for “together” in Dogrib, the local native language.
Finished Size: 18”x 63” once wet blocked.
Yarn: Neighborhood Fiber Company Maisonette Lace, 50% Superwash Merino, 50% silk. Sample knit in Roland Park. Sample used approximately 650 yards.
Needles: 24” or longer circular needle, size 4 US (3.5mm), or size to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 18 stitches and 22 rows in wet-blocked stockinette stitch; gauge is not critical for this item but will affect yardage and drape.
