Here is a cute pattern for my elf hat that has a nice taper to it.

Right now it only has a pattern for a toddler/small child with an extension for an older child to adult size. It should be pretty flexible, depending on how tight you crochet. I crochet fairly tight, so i used an H hook for these sizes.

The gauge is listed above to ensure proper fit.

If you do three colors as shown then you will only need about half a skein of the main two colors (maybe a little less) and a small amount for the accent color.
