SKILLS NEEDED

• The skill level needed is advanced beginner.
• The techniques you will need to know include chain, single crochet, slip stitch, single crochet increase, invisible decrease, working in the back bar of the ch, half double crochet, double crochet, treble crochet, working in the front and back loop only, bobble stitch, picot, and the adjustable (magic) ring.

MATERIALS NEEDED (more specifics are noted within the pattern)

• yarn in your choice of colors (about 64-84 yds/59-77 m of worsted/aran)
• a size E/4 (3.5 mm) crochet hook
• stitch markers
• tapestry needle
• stuffing
• pins
• scissors
• safety eyes
• chopstick to help stuff
• something to color cheeks (blush, crayon, pastels, etc.) (optional)
• ornament hanger (ribbon, yarn, metal, etc.) (optional)
• Sewing thread (optional for sewing bell)
• jingle bell (optional)

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

• Using hook size E/4 (3.5 mm) and worsted yarn the Crochet Elf Ornament measures approx. 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) tall with the tip of the hat standing straight up.
• The miniature Crochet Elf Ornament in the images was made using Size 10 crochet thread and a 1.50 mm hook. The same pattern is used with a minor change: use 4 mm eyes. It measures approx. 2 inches (5.1 cm) tall with the tip of the hat standing straight up.
