Elfriede
This pattern can also be found in issue 6 of Laine Magazine.
My family spent summers when I was growing up with my Omi, Elfriede, at her cabin on a lovely tree-lined lake. The lace pattern used in the body of this sideways asymmetrical triangle shawl reminds me of those trees and the happy memories we shared there. Elfriede is named in her honour. Today my Omi suffers from advanced dementia. It has been incredibly difficult, but I have found solace in the soothing stitches of this shawl. It’s my hope that you’ll also find healing and meditation when knitting Elfriede.
CONSTRUCTION / DETAILS
Elfriede is a sideways asymmetrical triangle shawl that is knitted corner to corner starting with one cast-on stitch. The border and sides are worked in garter stitch with a raised slip stitch detail . The overall body is worked in lace stitch that mimics small trees.
