There is an abundance of Alpacas in Yorkshire…
and here’s one of them ;)

Meet Eli the Alpaca!

He is knitted flat, stuffed and seamed

Materials Required - 2.75mm knitting needles, 3.50mm knitting needles, darning needle, toy stuffing (~40gms) and coloured yarn

Gauge: Not important, but do ensure to knit tight enough so that the stuffing does not show through

Approximate finished size is: 25 cm x 15 cm

Working with Fancy yarn tips :
Keep your tension looser to allow for movement when working a Kfb stitch.
Using wooden needles rather than metal needles may ease the movement of the stitches.
Using the Fancy yarn for seaming can cause it to split and ruffle up, if the tail ends are used for seaming then it may be better to use Clear Nylon sewing thread.

Yarns suggested:
50gm of Fancy yarn:
One strand of Aran/Chunky Boucle yarn (e.g. Plymouth Dreamland Fancy or Phildar Phil Douce) or
One strand of DK/Aran yarn and one strand of Eyelash yarn (e.g. King Cole Moments DK) held together or
One strand of DK/Aran yarn and one strand of Boucle yarn (e.g. Drops Alpaca Boucle Aran) held together

P2tog - Purl 2 stitches together
Kfb - Knit into the front and back of the stitch - Knit the stitch, but before taking the stitch off the needle, insert tip of working needle into the backside of the loop and knit that stitch too.
ML - Make loop - Knit the stitch, but before taking the stitch off the needle, bring the yarn to the front of the work between the two needles, wrap around the thumb, hold in place and bring the yarn back through between the needles, without releasing the loop, knit the stitch again. There will now be two stitches on the right needle, to finish, slip the first stitch over the second stitch.

Sewing skills required:
Mattress stitch, over stitch, running stitch and chain stitch

Happy knitting!
