Elia is worked in the round from the bottom up to the armscyes, where it is split into front and back sections and worked back and forth in rows. It features a shawl collar and set in sleeves (worked flat), with identical cable panels on both the front and back of the sweater. Waist shaping is incorporated into the Stockinette stitch panels that run up the sides of the sweater, for a fitted look. The sample is waist length, but instructions are given for lengthening the bodice by 3 ½” / 9 cm for those who prefer a longer pullover.

The sweater is intended to be worn with 0-2” / 0-5 cm ease, but can be worn with more ease as desired. 2” / 5 cm ease will give the look of a standard sweater. The sleeves are fitted, so size should be determined by bust circumference and upper arm circumference. Sample measures 32 ½” / 82.5 cm and is modeled with no ease.
