This design was created for my son, Elijah, who requested a hat made by mom. He wanted one of the “floppy” hats and the Elijah Slouch was born. When my girls needed new hats they requested “floppy hats like Elijah but with cotton balls (aka pompom)”.

A simple knit/purl pattern that creates large circles for a fun texture. A great beginner project for someone looking to warm they’re head in style.

I love this pattern in knitpicks chroma but some of my testers went with tweeds and solids and it was beautiful that way too.

You’ll need 1-2 skeins of Knitpicks Chroma or appx 100-250yds (more if you want to add a pompom) of your favorite worsted weight yarsn, size 8 (5mm) circular or dpn needles, a stitch marker, and a yarn needle to weave in ends and close up the top.

You will need to know the knit, purl, and k2tog stitches and will need to know how to knit in the round.

The pattern comes in:
Baby
Toddler
Child
Teen/Small Adult
Large Adult
