TWO PATTERNS: flat and round methods

Meet Lizzie and Eliphy! They are twins!
Eliphy was so excited, that she will meet her long time friend, so she was practically flying on the wings of happiness all time long!
This change didn’t go unnoticed, her twin sister was so intrigued about Eliphy’s journey, and she decided to go with her.

  • I’m going with you to Theodore! - decided Lizzie.
  • It’s wonderful news! - said Eliphy! - I’ve got a feeling this will be a very special journey to my friend Theodore! Now, I’ll spend my time with two my best friends!

Knitting method: there are two patterns for the elephant: knitting “in the round” on DPNS and knitting “back and forth” using straight knitting needles

Instructions for stuffing and finishing the toy
Skill Level - Intermediate
Skills required: Cast on/Cast off/ Knit/ Purl/ Increase/ Decrease

Materials
I use two threads for knitting the elephant and the clothes at the same time:

  • the main thread is alpaca (or alpaca + wool)
  • an additional thread is mohair and silk (“Drops Kid-Silk”).

Toy stuffing – washable polyester (approx. 30 g)
Two black round loop backed eyes (diameter is approx. 6 mm)
White embroidery thread for the eyes

Equipment
4 Double-Pointed Needles (DPNS) 2.75mm (UK12/US2)
One pair of 2.75 mm straight knitting needles (UK12/US2)
2.75 mm circular knitting needles for the dress (UK12/US2) - it is more convenient to use it instead of straight knitting needles
Crochet hook 1.6-2.0 mm (UK1/US1) for the buttonholes and crochet the edges of the ears
Plastic-headed pins
A Tapestry needle with a rounded point for sewing up the pieces (length is approx. 5 cm)
A Tapestry needle for attaching the eyes (length is approx. 8-9 cm)
