This is the English digital PDF pattern for the crocheted Elisabeth Scarf. It includes detailed written instructions as well as photos and links to video tutorials. You will also get a PDF with a lookbook! This contains photos and some useful info from the lovely people that tested this pattern.

The pattern is most suited for intermediate level crocheters and up!

This scarf is super versatile and the perfect spring/summer/fall staple, it’s light and airy and has a nice drape to it. It’s super comfortable to wear and fun to make!! Depending on what size you make it in, it can be a very fast and rewarding project! Perfect if you’re feeling a little stuck or bored and need a project that you can finish within a day or two :)

Sizes:
This is a made-to-measure pattern, meaning that the scarf can be made in any size. For each new round you make the scarf grows a little bit bigger, and when you are happy with the size you simply stop! I’ve made a small head scarf, a larger scarf that can be worn as a top and an even larger that I gave to my mother to be worn as a warmer shawl.

Materials needed:

  • Crochet hook to match your yarn (I used a 3.5 mm)
  • Yarn:
    • I used a fingering weight cotton yarn (category 1)
    • You can technically use any yarn and hook you want, but I highly recommend using thin yarn to get a nice drape (so fingering or lace weight).
    • Choose a material that drapes well! So cotton, cotton blend, bamboo or linen.
    • The amount of yarn you’re going to need depends entirely on how big you want your scarf to be. For my head scarf I used less than 50 g (or 180 m)
  • Blocking board/towels
  • Scissors

Stitches and abbreviations (US terms):
Chain(s) – ch(s)
Stitch(es) – st(s)
Single crochet(s) – sc(s)
Single crochets backwards
Half double crochet(s) – hdc(s)
Half double crochet plus single crochet – hdc+sc
Yarn over slip stitch(es) – yoslstst(s)
Slip stitches – slst(s)

Gauge:
10x10 cm or 4x4 inches = 20 stitches x 14 rows
The gauge swatch is made using hdc+sc and yoslsts. This stitch combo is explained in detail in the pattern, but since the pattern is made-to-measure, a gauge swatch is technically not necessary.
